Earlier this year, Vancouver metal tyrants Black Wizard were forced into a brief hiatus when longtime guitarist Johnny De Courcy decided to move on from the group. The band have since found a replacement for the guitar player, leaving the doors wide open for De Courcy to announce his first post-Wiz project.
Writing on the site for his Pinhole Printing silkscreen company, De Courcy announced a solo EP called Bad Teeth. He described the project with the following unedited statement:
I've been in (metal) bands for as long as I can remember and have had a lot of fun doing it, but things change and people grow tired of shredding and puking all over themselves (or do they?). Regardless, It's time to embrace this change. Saturday (oct 22nd) will be the date of my first release post-headbanger as a "solo artist" (lol, i know right?) and I couldn't be more excited. It's a five song cassette called Bad Teeth that was recorded/mixed/mastered by Michael Kraushaar over the last two months at Bully's Studios. It's being put out by Ryan Smith on Green Burrito Tapes. They will be for sale at the show on saturday at Bully's in new west (67 6th st) and at various record shops in vancouver and probably online somewhere...
