Even if you aren't immediately familiar with Resavoir by name, there's a good chance you've heard the sounds of its leader, Will Miller, sometime before. The Chicago-based musician, composer and producer plays trumpet as a member of Whitney, and lent keyboards to SZA's "Blind" as part of that song's production collective. Most generously, you might recall Miller and Resavoir's appearance in a prior Staff Pick of mine from earlier this year.
What you need to know more than those details is how "Inside Minds" previews a sophomore Resavoir album to be announced this fall. Until that time, the instrumental is a sublime interlude with which to settle into the days becoming shorter, its curious chord progression like dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy when first plucked out by guitarist Matt Gold.
