Prolific UK post-punks the Fall have pretty well averaged an album a year since starting up in the late '70s, so this might not come as much of a surprise: the band have a new record coming out sometime this year. What is interesting is that the group are once again bouncing to another label to release their music.
While last year's Your Future Our Clutter was released on indie powerhouse Domino, this next set is poised to be pressed by the somewhat smaller Cherry Red Records, the UK-based label responsible for releases by the likes of Felt, Everything but the Girl and the Monochrome Set.
The Quietus reports that the imprint recently got in touch with them to confirm that it would be releasing the next Fall record.
"Cherry Red Records have some exciting news! We're thrilled to announce that the release of the new FALL album will be coming out on Cherry Red later in the year," a label rep wrote.
There isn't much else to go on beyond that. Neither a title nor a release date has been set quite yet for the new Fall album, but an interview the Quietus conducted with main man Mark E. Smith last fall had the singer admitting that the group's new tunes are heavier, likening their new sound to "a Greek heavy metal group."
