Fauxliage

Vancouver-based Delerium have had a history of working their ambient charms around the vocal styling of a series of great chanteuses, including dance music veteran Kirsty Hawkshaw, Metric vocalist Emily Haines and, of course, their most famed collaborator Sarah McLachlan on "Silence.” Fauxliage is the extension of one such short-term venture between Leigh Nash, the former lead singer of Sixpence None the Richer, and Bill Leeb and Rhys Fuller of Delerium into a fully-fledged artist project. Their take on folkie pop with rich, classical electronic textures echoing sentiments of compositions from William Orbit to Zero 7 is a passionate and tender delight. Well constructed and beautifully harmonising, it has all Delerium elements that brought about their success while achieving distinction with the silky tones of Nash’s voice, which complement the texture and style perfectly. Occasional inclinations and hints towards a more overtly pop style and structure are held back just enough to give this project genuine credibility while treading the line of commercial sound very carefully.
