Final Fantasy XII

PS2

After playing the 12th Final Fantasy for 20 or so hours (a fraction of the role-playing game's actual length) you'll realise Owen Pallett chose a damn good stage-name. Like its popular predecessors, FFXII is epic, melodramatic and totally gay (the male characters really couldn't be more effeminate). It's also the finest RPG this side of Oblivion and — with its stunning sci-fi meets Middle Earth visuals, real-time semi-automated team combat, huge cast of characters and politically-pointed plot about a post-invasion military occupation and subsequent insurgency — one of the most ambitious PS2 games that will ever be made.
