One of the cornerstones of goth rock will get the re-release treatment on October 19 when the first two albums by Bauhaus return to the marketplace, complete with limited-edition versions.
The influential UK group, led by vocalist Peter Murphy, will finally have new versions of 1980's In the Flat Field and 1981's Mask available to their legions of vampire-like fans, courtesy of 4AD/Beggars Archive.
The so-called "omnibus" CD box set editions of the two albums will be released in limited quantities. In the Flat Field includes Japanese paper-style packaging of the original vinyl cover art, along with a 48-page booklet that tells the story of the band's rise as one of the purveyors of all things goth. The album, which featured the timeless, undead classic "Bela Lugosi Is Dead" (see below), has been remastered and put back into its original track sequence, and comes with a second disc of non-album singles and outtakes. Meanwhile, the Mask set includes a bonus disc called ...And Remains, which contains more outtakes, as well as some live recordings.
Pre-orders of the cleverly coined "Baubox" sets, as well as full tracklistings and more details, are available by clicking here.
