More Heady Nuggs are on the way, as Oklahoman psych princes the Flaming Lips are about to roll out a deluxe box set toasting their 1995 LP, Clouds Taste Metallic. The rarities-loaded Heady Nuggs 20 Years After Clouds Taste Metallic 1994-1997 lands November 27 through Warner Bros.
Press materials explain that the second Heady Nuggs collection will be presented as both a three-CD set and a seven-LP collection. For the CD version, the first disc will include the original Clouds Taste Metallic album, which was the second and last Flaming Lips album to feature guitarist Ronald Jones, as well as the The King Bug Laughs rarities compilation.
The second CD is the first commercial release of the band's once promo-only release Due to High Expectations the Flaming Lips Are Providing Needles for Your Balloons, as well as various rarities including a radio performance of 1993 single "She Don't Use Jelly." The third disc, meanwhile, contains a full live set recorded in Seattle in 1996.
A video trailer has Lips leader Wayne Coyne explaining what all will be offered up in the various bundle packages for Heady Nuggs 20 Years After Clouds Taste Metallic 1994-1997. Fans will be able to nab reproductions of various vintage concert posters and T-shirts, as well as spin the set on various vinyl colourways. Some packages will come autographed by the band ("Maybe we'll even get Ronald Jones to sign some," Coyne mentions), while pre-orders will also grant fans access to some early downloads.
