A black curtain emblazoned with white design covered the stage as Flying Lotus set up, the crowd pressed against the barrier well in advance of his scheduled set time. Pulled back, the curtain revealed a screen that abounded with visuals, and the humble electronic artist took the stage.

Visually, Flying Lotus' stage show was incredible; the psychedelic projections served as both a mind fuck, and perfectly complementary imagery to the immense roster FlyLo had to offer.

"Camel" rolled into "Beginners Falafel," which rolled into "Do the Astral Plane," pulling graciously from older albums like Los Angeles, while still putting ample stock in the tremendous Cosmogramma. A nice cue-up and drop of Busta Rhymes' "Gimme Some More," sped up and heavy on the percussion, briefly changed the climate before smoothly transitioning into "Zodiac Shit." "Putty Boy Strut" then met "Nose Art," the eclectic, spastic, offbeat hodgepodge acting as a testament to Flying Lotus' charming legacy.

Flying Lotus' craftmanship is nothing short of astounding, and you'd be hard pressed to find another DJ/producer who seems more engaged and enthralled with what they do.

The crowd began to thin with ample time still to go in the set — either anxious to make the next venue, or perhaps unaware of the master in front of them. Nevertheless, FlyLo came to the fore near the end, briefly throwing down lyrically himself and greeting the most loyal audience members, before pulling from You're Dead! and asking the crowd to join in on "Never Catch Me."
