Founding Nevermore Member Not Involved in "Completely Disrespectful" Reunion Plans

Jeff Loomis and Van Williams seem to be "resurrecting the dream" in 2025 — without consulting Jim Sheppard

Seattle progressive metal legends Nevermore haven't been active since 2011 due to apparent "personal issues" within the band. Any hopes of an eventual reunion seemed further dashed when vocalist Warrel Dane died in 2017, but Jeff Loomis and Van Williams recently each posted cryptic video teasers to their social media accounts suggesting they were "resurrecting the dream" and beginning a new chapter of Nevermore in 2025.

This also came as news to Jim Sheppard, the band's founding bassist, who has now (by way of his wife, Priscilla) called his former bandmates' apparent reunion plans "completely disrespectful."

Making a Facebook post in response to fan inquiries about Sheppard's involvement in the project, Priscilla wrote, "James has never been contacted about Van's plans with Jeff using the Nevermore name. I am sorry you think James is involved."

"We do not know about their plans, and it is completely disrespectful of them to use the name NEVERMORE without consulting Jim Sheppard, as he is one of the founders of the band," she continued. "We are waiting for clarification on this alleged project and will proceed from there, whether or not clarification comes from them."

In the clips Loomis and Williams posted to their socials on Friday (December 27), ominous string music introduces Nevermore-related imagery. Heavy guitars then come crashing in alongside what appears to be a rendering of the two musicians' silhouettes, with the text "Resurrecting the Dream." The band's logo follows with the subtext "A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS," dated 2025.

Check it out for yourself below, as well as the comments section full of people wondering who will be on vocals in Dane's absence. Nevermore's last album remains 2010's The Obsidian Conspiracy.
