Frank Turner

"Plea from a Cat Named Virtue" (Weakerthans cover)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 3, 2013

UK folk-punk Frank Turner salutes the mighty John K. Samson in a stripped-down acoustic cover of the Weakerthans' "Plea from a Cat Named Virtue."

While yanking distortion and drums from his run-through of the now 10-year-old Reconstruction Site track, Turner injects a whole heap of energy into the tune with his fast-paced strums and hopeful vocals. Like the original, this is not the "bitter song" referred to in the lyrics, and you can check it out in the player down below.

Turner's cover appears on the Skatepunk for Southbank compilation, which is raising funds to help preserve the skateboard culture of London's Southbank neighbourhood. You can get a copy of the entire 22-track comp over here on Bandcamp.

As previously reported, Turner is touring between now and the fall in support of his recent Tape Deck Heart, with upcoming stops scheduled across Canada. You can find out more details over here.
