Freddie Gibbs & Madlib

"Shame" (ft. BJ the Chicago Kid)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 22, 2012

Despite initial reports that Freddie Gibbs and producer extraordinaire Madlib's second tag-team EP Shame was coming out via Stones Throw July 15, you can nab the MP3s through the site now, and the vinyl version has already started shipping. Just in case you needed any extra incentive to jump on the EP toute suite, the partners are also offering up a stream of the super soulful title cut.

Madlib flips old-school R&B group the Manhattans' sultry 1973 single "Wish That You Were Mine," pitch-shifting the track slightly without sacrificing all of its slow-jam cool. Gibbs tears it up with some verses about scouring his phone for ultimately regrettable late-night hook-ups, while BJ the Chicago Kid's falsetto sweet talk sums up a walk of shame scenario.

As previously reported, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib are expected to release a full-length collaboration sometime this fall.
