Friska Viljor are apparently yet another part of the concerted effort by Sweden to take over the world of pop music. Their particular approach is via quirky, horn-laden songs that find the middle ground between the Shout Out Louds and The Housemartins, and it works relatively well on their fourth album, The Beginning Of The Beginning Of The End. Or at least to begin with.
The main issue is that whilst the band do the upbeat pop thing so very well, the slower songs are a lot less successful even if they offer a respite from the relentlessness of the rest of the album. Or maybe the band are just as exhausted as the listener after nine songs and don't have the energy to finish on a high. It isn't without a certain amount of charm but disappointingly one dimensional.
