Fugazi Officially Endorse Fugazi-Based Opera

From Jay-Z to Jack Black to Tom DeLonge, everyone loves Fugazi. And while the post-hardcore innovators will probably never reunite, their work has been reinterpreted for a new opera.

Called It's All True, the 100-minute piece from the New York troupe Object Collection uses samples from Fugazi's comprehensive live archives. Using "random feedback, aimless drum noodling, pre-show activist speeches, audience hecklers, and the police breaking up gigs," the group have created new material.

Best of all, it's fully endorsed by the band. As Pitchfork reports, Fugazi's Guy Picciotto said, "All of us were both blown away and disoriented by the work.... We feel moved by Object Collection's engagement with our archive material and salute everyone involved for their hard work and patience and for wrestling with such integrity with our sounds and words."

You'll have to travel to New York City or London, England if you want to see a performance of the material in person. Otherwise, a recording of It's All True will be released on October 6 via Slip.
