Fuzzy Doodah

World Without Dogs

BY Chris WodskouPublished Dec 1, 1999

The most dubious part of the beat legacy is its tumid inspiration on people far less talented than the likes of Ferlinghetti. Rich Ferguson of Fuzzy Doodah is one example of a would-be poet, drunk to point of raving on beat style. His poetry on World Without Dogs would be far more palatable without the absurdly mannered, whining, hectoring delivery that all but obscures some very tasteful arrangements — pedal steel gestures that are more evocative than the poetry itself.
