Garageland: Polaris Preview/Rewind

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Sep 18, 2010

On Monday, September 20, the Polaris Music Prize will celebrate its fifth year by giving $20,000 to the Canadian artist who made the best album in the twelve months since June 2009. To celebrate, we're looking back at some Garageland of yore with a pair of nominees. Shad celebrates his second nomination, for this year's album TSOL; in the video, he discusses building a hip-hop audience in Canada and the lies people tell about McDonald's. See video above.

Caribou has also been nominated before and took home the prize in 2008 for his album Andorra; this year's Swim is also up for the award. Looking back to April 2008, Caribou's Dan Snaith discusses the lonely life of recording versus the stress of life on the road. See video below.
