Despite sharing new music from Thundercat earlier today (August 23), Flying Lotus's label Brainfeeder isn't quite finished being the bearer of good news. The label has now revealed that funk icon George Clinton will release a new solo effort through the label.
The news was broken today through Twitter, with the label hinting that further details will be announced soon. Flying Lotus also confirmed Clinton's involvement with the label.
Of course, this isn't the first time Clinton has been involved with Brainfeeder. Last year, he was featured on Adult Swim single "The Lavishments of Light Looking" from WOKE, a group made up of Flying Lotus, Thundercat and Shabazz Palaces.
Clinton first met Flying Lotus through working with Kendrick Lamar on the MC's revered 2015 record To Pimp a Butterfly, alluding to working alongside the Brainfeeder boss in an interview with Noisey.
"When I met Kendrick Lamar, that's when I met him. We did 'Wesley's Theory.' I was just swept by their styles," Clinton told the site in 2015. "As a matter of fact, we're doing a record together now with Parliament. We'll be doing some stuff with Flying Lotus on that. We're going to be doing an album together.. .I really like them. They're definitely on the spaceship."
