Georgia Anne Muldrow

"E.S.P."

The Click Hear crew will be taking a break for the next two weeks, but you shouldn't let that stop you from swinging by this spot to (re)discover some of our favourite tracks from the past year. There's no real rhyme or reason behind these picks; they're just the songs that have helped to soundtrack the last 12 months for us. Enjoy and have a happy holidays.

While the forthcoming Umsindo will ostensibly be Georgia Anne Muldrow's official sophomore release since 2006's Olesi: Fragments of an Earth on Stones Throw, she's actually been very busy with a flurry of projects over the past few years. She popped up on Erykah Badu's New Amerykah: 4th World War as well as a collaborative record with partner Dudley Perkins and her own "Ms. One" compilation showcasing her production skills earlier this year, not to mention Mos Def's The Ecstatic where he reworked her track "Roses."

"E.S.P." the first track to surface from Umsindo (meaning "sound" in Zulu), hints that Muldrow's endearingly scattershot vocal and production style may be settling down a little. A tribute to her partner Perkins' daughter, sonically and topically it admirably balances the past and the present.
