Geri Halliwell Denies Having Sex with Fellow Spice Girl Mel B

Spice Girls' fast-approaching reunion just got a bit awkward, with two of the members disputing the details of an alleged sexual encounter from decades ago.

Last week, Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown told Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain that she and Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell were more than just best friends back in the heyday of "Girl Power."

After multiple prods, Morgan got Brown to admit that she and Halliwell had slept together "like that" — and not just as friends sharing a bed. At one point, she even turned to Melanie "Sporty Spice" Chisholm in the audience and asked, "Why can't you answer for me?"

Mel C simply replied, "I don't know anything. This is all new to me."

"She's going to hate me for this because she's all posh in a country house with her husband," Brown eventually told Morgan, after finally nodding "yes" to his question. "But it was all in the past."

Now, Halliwell (who has since taken her husband's name, Horner), has issued a statement denying that she ever slept with Brown.

"She would like you to know that what has been reported recently is simply not true and has been very hurtful to her family," her spokesman Alan Edwards told USA Today. "It has been very disappointing to read about all these rumours again."

Brown, meanwhile, has since played down the alleged incident, telling 2Day FM, "It wasn't a big deal… It happened one night, and I didn't go into detail about it at all… I just said it was a little thing and we giggled about it the next day and that's that."

The Spice Girls reunion tour is slated to kick off on May 24 in Dublin.
