As we previously reported,
What We Do Is Secret, the long-delayed biopic about notorious L.A. punk band the Germs, has been in the works for some time. Now, it has finally been given a theatrical release date. On August 8, the film will open in New York, Los Angeles and Orange County, as well as Chicago on August 22. Not the greatest news for rural Canada but its a start.
The film, which centres upon singer Darby Crash at the peak of his career, is written and directed by Rodger Grossman, who enlisted original Germs guitarist Pat Smear to help with the details. So, whos playing Crash? Shane West, who is best known for appearances on ER and in the Mandy Moore tearjerker A Walk To Remember. Apparently, West embodies Crash so well that the band have reformed with him taking the late singers place.
