Ever since reuniting for last year's biopic, What We Do Is Secret, legendary L.A. punk band the Germs have had a hard time throwing in the towel. With actor Shane West (who also starred in teen drama A Walk to Remember opposite Mandy Moore) filling in for deceased singer Darby Crash, the band have played a number of shows.
And it now appears as though the band have plans to unleash some new recordings. In an interview with Riotfest [via Punknews], drummer Don Bolles said that the band were planning to enter the studio for the first time since 1980 to record "new old material" that was written when Darby was still in the band.
The songs they will be recording are rarities from different eras in the band's career, some of which were too long for the their tastes. They'll also be recording two songs originally written for the Darby Crash Band, "Out of Time" and "Golden Boy."
Once completed, these songs will be included on a career-spanning retrospective box set called Lest We Forget: The Sounds of The Germs. The package is due sometime next year.
