Having given us a sneak peek of 36 Seasons last week with an album sampler, Ghostface Killah has now unfurled a soul-soaked stream of the record's neighbourhood-inspecting "The Battlefield" in full.
Sonically, the track plays like classic Ghost, with brass and jangling guitars laced around a deep boom-bap rhythm. Tony Starks' ironclad bars have him analyzing his old neighbourhood, dismayed at the "crackheads" on the block and kids smoking marijuana. Tre Williams delivers a soft and defeated vocal hook about being on the urban battlefield, while Kool G Rap and AZ add street-focused lines of their own.
36 Seasons is due out on December 9 through Salvation/Tommy Boy.
