Toward the end of her very sweet set, Halifax singer Gianna Lauren joked that she should have done some drinking before she took the stage. A little liquid courage likely would have cured what seemed a minor case of stage fright, but the pockets of timid banter didn't harm what was otherwise a solid performance, consisting of songs about love and the weather in Halifax. Lauren's moody guitar style was picked up a little by the slightly more upbeat "Hold Your Horses," and "Become What You Can't Be" was a highlight. Even without a belly full of liquor, Lauren's music is brooding and sophisticated, and her jittery nerves just go to show how human a performer she is.
