Glass Candy are a little bit of an obsession right now. This years breathtaking After Dark compilation on Italians Do It Better (an imprint of Troubleman Unlimited) really spotlighted the bands extreme makeover. It seemed like overnight they went from pretentious no wave hipsters to sexy Italo Disco sophisticates. Led by the breath of the stunning Ida No, producer Johnny Jewel has ditched the grating noise of 2003s Love Love Love for something much more sensual: lush 70s Italian soundtracks for the 80s discotheque. This is love making music for dudes who wear neck bandanas and the gals who love them. The best part is that while Ida and Johnny work on their long-awaited follow-up album, theyre posting free demos to download on their MySpace page: "Candy Castle is a seductive yet listless jam, like Jellybeans early Madonna work on Quaaludes, while "Geto Boys emits a summertime glee with its gorgeous mash-up of last years "Iko Iko single and Geto Boys "My Mind Playing Tricks On Me. The site reads: "Could Glass Candy possibly have one of the top albums of the first decade of the still new millenium. I think so. 2008 Revolution. I dont think I can argue with them.
P.S. Dont miss out on Chromatics either.
