Maurizio Guarini is known as the keyboardist of Italian horror/prog kings Goblin, but he recently made his solo debut with the album Creatures from a Drawer. He's now preparing to bring his solo material to the stage for a Toronto show.

The gig is at Lula Lounge on June 5 and it's billed as a CD release party. Guarini noted on Facebook that he would be accompanied by "awesome guest musicians from the Toronto music scene," and promised that the set would include some Goblin favourites too.

According to a press release, Creatures from a Drawer is a stylistically diverse affair that includes prog-rock, jazz and avant-garde. Even some mathematics reportedly make their way into the proceedings. Hear samples of all 10 tracks right here.

As for Goblin, they will play their first-ever U.S. show in October when they perform their score for Suspiria at the Housecore Horror Film Festival in Austin, TX.
