Godflesh Unveil First New Album in 13 Years

Having resurrected Godflesh for a recent EP, Justin K. Broadrick previously announced plans to bring back the industrial metal act for a new full-length. Sure enough, A World Lit Only by Fire will come out on October 7 through Avalanche Recordings.

The duo of Broadrick and GC Green haven't released a Godflesh album in 13 years, since 2001's Hymns. According to a press release, the 10 songs that make up A World Lit Only by Fire span the divide "between high definition clarity and raw, visceral heaviness, inducing a meditative state via seething minimalism that hinges on ritualistic riff repetition and the tenuous membrane between anxiety-inducing dissonance and cathartic minor key melody."

The album apparently draws on the musicians' experience playing with numerous projects over the past decade-plus. For a taste of what they've learned, scroll past the tracklist below to hear the crushingly heavy opener "New Dark Ages."

The album cover is above. This collection will be available in the usual vinyl, CD and digital formats.
