Godgory

Godgory are a two-man project from Sweden that plays an original mixture of gothic bleakness and death metal. Recorded at Studio Freidman in Gothenburg, Sweden, the production on this shiny platter is huge and crunchy. Most of the eight tracks are mid-paced affairs relying on a base of crunchy riffs intertwined with keyboards for atmosphere. The results of this is some very melodic and catchy metal, à la Edge of Sanity, not that surprising, however, as former EoS front-man Dan Swano recorded their earlier demos in 1994. Not the reinvention of the wheel, but decent nonetheless.
