Former Sebadoh dude Eric Gaffney and Silver Jews' Chris Stroffolino team up with Jessica Crowley and Peter Nochisaki for this collection of catchy, fun and melodic rock that's at times akin to the Pavement-esque style of classic early '90s college rock. Still, most of these ten tracks avoid the carbon-testing process by sounding unlike any one thing in particular and by staking out some consistently original arrangements. Crowley and Nochisaki have a cool guy-girl vocal harmony thing going on here also that's sometimes reminiscent of X and the Pixies, and there's not a bad song in the bunch, either.
