Electric Eclectics founder Gordon Monahan presented his "Sauerkraut synthesizers," in which he electroshocks fruits, vegetables and a jar of sauerkraut to create different sounds — sounds like crying, which a fruit or vegetable might do while being tortured in public. A real-time readout flickered above him, with boxes designated "Potato," "Dill Pickle," and "Banana" and voltage metres fluctuating, as he manipulated these delicious perpetrators, presumably for secrets. Many of the tones produced resembled those of a vibraphone and the potato sounded a lot like R2-D2 panicking the way C-3PO usually does. The Q&A after was entertaining. Little known fact: after previous performances, most patrons end up eating the pickle before being warned that it's pretty gross of them to be doing that.
