Green Gets Blue

Of course we know it isn’t easy being green, but holy crap, Kermit’s fallen on hard times. As seen at SadKermit.com, our favourite Muppet took Jim Henson’s 1990 death hard, subsequently turning to depressing covers of Elliott Smith ("Twilight”) and Radiohead ("Creep”). But the capper is an accompanying video for Kermie’s version of "Hurt” (more Johnny Cash than Trent Reznor) that sees him descend into drug-fuelled madness, including dirty needles, performing sex acts on one-time music collaborator Rolf the Dog, and hugging it out with the porcelain. Smashing Miss Piggy’s photo in a drug-induced haze is more pathetic than cathartic, and breaks the hearts of Muppet lovers everywhere. Even the heartbreaking version of Leonard Cohen’s "Hallelujah,” via another tragic figure, Jeff Buckley, can’t give him hope.
