Grizzly Bear

'Painted Ruins' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 18, 2017

Grizzly Bear haven't released a full-length record since 2012's Shields, but that all changes today (August 18). The band's new album Painted Ruins is out now and available to stream.

They've been teasing its highly anticipated arrival with tracks like "Three Rings," "Mourning Sound," "Four Cypresses" and "Neighbors," giving fans a window into what the band has been working on for the last five years.

"We have a lot of options in terms of the stuff we can play on, so we have a lot of fun recording, but it's kind of equally fun to delete stuff," multi-instrumentalist and producer Chris Taylor recently told Exclaim!, explaining the band's editorial approach to the new music. "It opens the song up and lets the song really bloom and breathe. That's also really equally fun, which sounds really counterintuitive to delete stuff you really used to love, but it is actually quite cleansing."

You can now hear the final version of the project in its entirety by streaming Painted Ruins down below. You can also read Exclaim!'s review of the album here.
