Coming off of numerous big summer performances at Hillside, Mariposa Folk Festival and TD Toronto Jazz, Exclaim! New Faves alumni SHEBAD have announced the forthcoming release of their debut album, previewed today by new single "Black Walnut."
Music Is the Answer arrives November 1 through Lovetown Records, following the Guelph-based collective's 2022 EP, show us it's real. Its title underscores vocalist Claire Voy and bassist Ciccio's "devotion to music as a life-affirming guide," according to press notes.
New single "Black Walnut" was inspired by Ciccio and keyboardist Emil White's transformative experience beneath one member of the titular tree species. To celebrate the release, the bassist and Voy collected black walnuts and used them to hand-dye over 100 shirts for fans. Listen to the funky track below, and stay tuned for further album details.
