Gui Boratto

III

Renowned remix artist and São Paulan producer Gui Boratto appears with a new artist album at autumn's dawn. III broadcasts Gui's intuitively led tech-house in manners majestic but hard-hitting. Certain tracks here explore domains of calmness among others of tight, tweak-y energy in easy communication. Opener "Destination: Education" sends the party kids back to school with fuzzy frequencies and deep hollow tones. "The Drill" progresses things vibrantly before moving into slower material that's just as bright. III peaks with a powerhouse pack of songs over the last half of the record, starting with "Striker," building energy and retro appeal with Depeche Mode bass. "Talking Truss" weaves a tapestry of forward moving audio and "The Third" follows as a mellow counterpart. "This is Not the End," featuring Luciana Villanova, arises as the clear vocal track on III, with elements of a Chemical Brothers ballad. The record closes with "Trap," an ominous, film-like number that could frame a sombre scene before hope arises.
