Guns N' Roses to Play First Reunion Gig on April Fool's in Hollywood

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 1, 2016

While this is seemingly the kind of thing April Fool's Day pranksters thrive on, reunited Guns N' Roses have announced they're kicking off their reunion tonight (April 1) at their old Hollywood haunt, the Troubadour. Taking this at face value, this marks the first time Axl Rose and Slash have played a show together since 1993.

Following online murmurings, the band unveiled the show info through their social media accounts, explaining that they're due to hit the stage of the Los Angeles venue "sometime after 11 p.m." Tickets are being released at noon PDT at Gibson Brands on the city's Sunset Strip. The spot had previously been a Tower Records that guitarist Saul "Slash" Hudson had apparently worked at years ago.

It's added on the band's website the storefront has been transformed into "an Immersive GN'R Experience" curated by MadeWorn's Blaine Halvorson. The exhibit will showcase Guns N' Roses memorabilia from throughout their career.

As TMZ points out, fans are already lined up outside of the L.A. shop. As for the Troubadour, the marquee currently reads "not in this lifetime," apparently an allusion to a 2012 quote from vocalist Axl Rose about the possibility of getting the band's classic lineup together.

As previously reported, Guns N' Roses are also confirmed to play the Coachella festival in Indio, CA, and in Las Vegas this month. Last week, they unveiled a list of North American cities they'll be hitting sometime later this year. Though date and venue details have yet to arrive, this includes a stop in Toronto.

According to the show poster for tonight's performance, the upcoming trek will be "the most chaotic tour of 2016."

So far, it's only been confirmed that the Gunners playing the reunion shows include Rose, Slash and founding bassist Duff MacKagan. It had previously been announced that guitarist Izzy Stradlin would not be taking part in the performances, though its as yet unclear if drummer Steven Adler will be behind the kit or not.
