One of the oldest bits of stage banter in the book is giving a rock'n'roll welcome to the audience by screaming the name of their city. As Guns N' Roses found out in Australia on Tuesday (February 14), though, the touring lifestyle occasionally takes its toll and leads some rockers to slip up on their geography.
Upon taking the stage in Melbourne, the boo-birds were out in full force to greet the band after guitar technician McBob incorrectly welcomed the crowd with a rousing "Sydney!" Considering the relations between the two cities, the reaction should come as no surprise.
Down below, you can watch the embarrassing incident play out — and apparently it came after the band were already an hour late in hitting the stage.
Of course, it's hardly fair to single the band out for this slip-up. Bruce Springsteen gave a crowd in Cleveland a similar treatment during a tour stop last year.

The band issued an apology on Twitter, saying "accidentally after 30 years McBob made an error, we're truly sorry. Thank you for coming out tonight!"Goodnight Melton! There will be no encore! pic.twitter.com/cqIlWHV8cN
