GWAR Announce Acoustic EP 'The Disc with No Name'

Listen to their unplugged version of "Fuck This Place"

GWAR have taken a surprisingly mellow turn with plans for a new collection of acoustic versions of the horror-oriented group's hits. The EP — titled The Disc with No Name — arrives on May 28, and today, you can hear a stripped-down version of their The Blood of Gods track, "Fuck This Place."

The inspiration for the four-track effort came following an "emotional and ridiculous" acoustic performance for The A.V. Club's quarantine session. Now, a year into the pandemic, the band have found new meaning in their once-defiant, anarchistic "Fuck This Place," as well as the record's other featured track, as they're reimagined for a post-isolation world.

"During the quarantine of 2020 I spent long, lonely days with my hand down my pants, hiding out in a fortress made entirely of rolls of toilet paper, drinking hand sanitizer and watching 1000-Lb Sisters... which is business as usual for me," the group's Blóthar the Berserker said in a release.

He continued: "So I was relieved when I got the call to lay down some vocals on The Disc with No Name. We recorded this record over the telephone, which was fine with me, because I can't stand to be in the same room as the other members of GWAR."

The EP will arrive as a limited-edition 12-inch picture disc via Pit Records and through the band's official website. For now, you can listen to their acoustic rendition of "Fuck This Place" below, where you can also see the album's tracklisting.
