A lot has happened to A Hawk and a Hacksaw since they released their fourth album in 2009's Délivrance. The globally minded group, which includes former Neutral Milk Hotel drummer Jeremy Barnes, recorded their fifth full-length and formed a new label called L.M. Dupli-cation. The label will release the new album, called Cervantine, in early 2011.
A press release suggests that the album demonstrates even more of the group's globe-trotting influences, saying, "Cervantine is the vibrant sound of an American band whose geographical and cultural travels bear on their already distinctive music. The 20th century brought the influence of Spanish and Mexican music to Eastern European gypsy folk, and Cervantine celebrates the reflected resonance of this influence in modern-day New Mexico."
Cervantine will be released on February 15 via L.M. Dupli-cation imprint. It will be available on CD, vinyl and as a digital download. While the tracklisting is not yet available, a music video for the title track can be streamed below.
