Hawksley Workman Announces Pair of Albums, Cross-Canada Tour

Published Nov 17, 2009

Juno Award-winning Hawksley Workman will be hitting the road again in 2010 with two reasons for fans to celebrate: not only will it be his biggest Canadian tour to date, he'll also have two new albums' worth of material to play.

Via press release, Workman announced the 22-date tour and the upcoming albums, Meat and Milk. While Meat will have a standard commercial release on January 19, Milk will be released through a "non-traditional digital strategy," according to the release, with the record coming out single-by-single over five months, starting with "We'll Make Time," to be available on iTunes starting November 24.

The albums make sense of a vague November 8 Twitter update from Workman, who, counting Meat and Milk, now has a total of 12 albums under his belt. On top of releasing both Between the Beautifuls and Los Manlicious, in 2008 Workman produced the acclaimed Hey Rosetta! album Into Your Lungs (And around in Your Heart and on Through Your Blood), which took home a Verge Award last year and was shortlisted for the 2009 Polaris Music Prize. He also just re-released his debut album, For Him and the Girls, for the first time in the U.S.

The singer-songwriter has been known to fly across the stage between numerous instruments in his live shows, with his vocals blasting just as hard whether he's behind the guitar or drum kit. He will be visiting both new and favourite venues for the 2010 tour, including Toronto's Massey Hall.
