Seattle folk outfit the Head and the Heart first caught our attention back in 2011 with their self-titled debut. Now the enigmatic sextet are ready to release the album's long-awaited follow-up with their new LP, Let's Be Still, which you can stream in full ahead of its October 15 release through Sub Pop.
Recorded by Shawn Simmons at Seattle's Studio Litho, the album was later mixed in Connecticut by Peter Katis, who had previously brought out dynamics in albums from the National and fellow folk rockers the Swell Season.
According to a press release, Let's Be Still was created in part due to the confidence instilled in the band from their "amazing fan base," and marks a mature departure for the group. Cuts like "Another Story" and the album's title track evoke the country-fried chill of A Ghost Is Born-era Wilco, while album opener "Homecoming Heroes" finds the band fully showcasing the orchestral strength of their muscular six-piece.
See for yourself by listening to the album in the player below, but don't forget to pre-order a copy of their new LP here before catching the band on their upcoming North American tour.
