Anyone else tired of living through historical events? The first full week of March is just now behind us, and I'm already dizzy. If there's any solace to be had, as always, it's in the form of the week's best new Canadian music, bringing that novelty in a way that's more comforting and fun and less world-ending doom-y.
Charmaine returns with "MONEY" — and bitch, you'd better have it — while Goldie Boutilier continues to satisfyingly unravel the facades of industry men who have wronged her in broodingly retro country pop with "King of Possibilities." Meanwhile, Casper Skulls make Exclaim!'s Staff Picks section with their reflection on generational cycles "Dying in Eight Verses," the latest preview of upcoming album Kit-Cat.
Speaking of albums, it's a big release week over here: our current cover stars Spiritbox have at last come through the other side of the storm with their sophomore record Tsunami Sea. We also have new LPs from Frog Eyes (The Open Up), No Frills, Change of Heart and the Human Rights, as well as a Housewife EP.
Elsewhere, Kate Maki is back with her first new music in nine years, Abigail Lapell teams up with Great Lake Swimmers, and Jessie Reyez ushers in her next era with the Smashing Pumpkins-sampling "PSILOCYBIN & DAISIES."
It's a tariff-free zone with The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken — all Canadian and proud of it!
