Cat Power has already shared her Lana Del Rey duet "Woman" from her upcoming album Wanderer, and now she's delivered her own interpretation of another pop star's music — Rihanna.
In the spirit of folk greats before her, Cat Power has covered another artist's work, crafting her own version of "Stay."
The track was originally penned by Mikky Ekko, who also sang with Rihanna on her 2012 Unapologetic single version.
"I love the tradition of covering songs," Cat Power said in a press release. "I think it's one of the highest compliments you can pay another artist. It's one of the great traditions in American music and one of the great pleasures."
The reworked Rihanna ballad arrives with a video that was filmed at producer Rob Schnapf's studio. Check it out below.
Wanderer is due out October 5 via Domino.
