It seems the Halifax Pop Explosion will live on, so long as its repercussions continue to make their way across the country. This Ontario trio clearly wanted to get in on the action, to the point that they convinced Superfriend/Flashing Light Matt Murphy to produce this eight-song EP. While I applaud their wide-eyed glee on most of the tracks, in this case imitation becomes tiring rather than flattering. Matt Murphy eventually learned how to sing convincingly, but Afie Jurvanen still has a ways to go. Maybe ten years ago this could have rode the East Coast tide, or maybe thats just my age showing. Either way, the Heat need a little more time in the oven.
