Heavy Hearts

"Basement Jesus"

Hailing from Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON, Heavy Hearts are gearing up to unleash a brand new record titled Bliss this summer, but before the full thing arrives, they've shared an upcoming album cut called "Basement Jesus."

The forthcoming full-length follows up the four-piece's debut 2013's EP and hears the band cementing their sound with "effects-laden guitars" and "hooky vocals" to achieve a sound that's fuller and more refined than anything they've shared before.

"Basement Jesus" is the latest example of that refreshed sound, serving up a sonic onslaught of powerful percussion, sludgy rhythms, spiralling guitar solos and aggressively emotive vocals. According to the band, the tune was originally dubbed "Longneck Jesus" after drunkenly passing by a dinosaur statue, but you can hear the premiere of its more recent, evolved state right now.

Bliss is due out on June 24 through New Damage Records, and you can catch the band on tour with Seaway and Coldfront at the shows listed below. Beyond those, hit play to give "Basement Jesus" a spin.
