Montreal rockers the High Dials like things low-key. Their latest album, Anthems for Doomed Youth, is a self-released lo-fi gem recorded partly on an old four-track, and their new video for single "Chinese Boxes" keeps up with their luddite aesthetic.
The black-and-white clip was filmed on an old Super 8 and focuses on the band hanging out in an old house. Sometimes they're having full-band jam sessions in an upstairs bedroom, sometimes they're having a smoke out on the porch. While the song plays like a gauzy, new wave-inflected Tom Petty tune, the grainy clip comes across like a nostalgic home movie.
