After releasing their well-received self-titled debut in 2008, tropically-inclined electronic experimentalists High Places have now announced a follow-up. Titled High Places vs. Mankind, the album is set to drop April 6 on Thrill Jockey.
According to the press release, the album focuses on the subject of "being human and what it's like to interact with other human beings." It is reportedly also more guitar-centric than any previous releases, and features the duo's Mary Pearson and Rob Barber using more conventional instrumentation without losing their trademark drum machines. And, yeah, that image of green gooey stuff above is serving as the album art.
The new non-album digital single, "I Was Born," is out now, but the band will drop another single soon and both will be collected on a twelve-inch that includes additional remixes.
In support of the album, High Places will tour extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe this spring.
