So much of hip-hop’s "back in the day” talk revolves around what happened in New York and L.A, but so many more regional scenes need to be celebrated. The Meaning Of Dope (themeaningofdope.com) is a blog centered on Toronto’s hip-hop heritage. With video and audio content sourced exclusively from private collections, the early ’90s ethos of "each one teach one” is carried forward into this millennium. Their mission statement says it all: "We pride ourselves on putting young cats onto shit they’re guaranteed to have never seen live, and giving some nostalgic sparks to the older heads.” My head’s getting older all the time, but I’m not alone — the comments from new and old jacks are as entertaining and insightful as the posts themselves.
