This Norwegian trio continue to dissolve the boundaries between improvised jazz, electronic music, drone and even pop songwriting. At the centre of their raga-like meditations is Ingar Zach, whose blend of live drumming with motorized agitators, shruti boxes and the ominously named "drone commander" propels the action forward with a complex and cohesive wash of sound. Guitarist Ivar Grydeland's contributions range from tonal flows that drift above the action to chords that pry open spaces between the beats. Tonny Kluften's bass is so low and pervasive it's nearly subliminal, at times, apparent only when its absence finally registers. Their long pieces unexpectedly marry the nervous syncopation of Can's motorik transport to the inward beauty of Eastern drone forms. It can feel like the equivalent of three simultaneous carnival rides, with speed, blurred colours and unexpected jolts aplenty.
