Iced Earth

You may have already noticed that Iced Earth’s Jon Schaffer attended the Paul Stanley School of vocal technique, but if that idea’s new to you, try listening to his Kiss covers. Tribute to the Gods is an album of classic tracks, for the most part well selected and likely to be on the old-time favourites list of many a metalhead. In addition to Kiss, you’ll find anthems by Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Blue Öyster Cult, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath and AC/DC. But the inevitable question remains: why bother? A tribute this album is, but Iced Earth’s remakes offer no fascinating reinterpretations of the originals. Forget Tribute to the Gods, dig into your old vinyl collection and listen to the "gods” themselves instead.
