Iggy Azalea Signs to Island Def Jam for 'The New Classic'

We're still not sure exactly when Australian-born rapper Iggy Azalea will drop her long-in-the-works studio LP, tentatively titled The New Classic, but the MC has announced she'll now be releasing the set through Island Def Jam/Mercury UK.

The business move was announced by Azalea earlier today (April 23) with a simply stated tweet: "Hey world. I signed to island def jam. I am now mercury UK/ island def jam USA awesome!!!!"

This is the latest in a series of label shifts for Azalea. Last year, she made plans to work with Interscope, though that fell through. She had also signed on with T.I.'s Grand Hustle, but apparently the move to Island Def Jam means that The New Classic will no longer feature a Grand Hustle stamp, being that they're distributed by Atlantic Records. Azalea was quick to point out, however, that she's still tight with T.I.'s team.

"That doesn't mean I'm no [sic.] in hustle gang. Save it. Still in it. Still on the hustle gang album. Friendship doesn't require contracts."

Neither a release date nor a tracklisting have popped up for The New Classic, though Azalea did release her "Work" single from the set last month.
