Impossible Shapes

A great migration there won't be, but a rewarding pilgrimage for those inclined. An all-guy four-piece out of Indianapolis comprise the Shapes. A debut album of pop de psych all over sweet musings of exactly what I can't figure out, but that's a good thing. The pleasant sound typified on this album is interesting guitar work, complimentary rhythm accompaniment and very natural vocal presence. The singing is rarely off-key, which implies it's on purpose, adding a hint of vulnerability. At times you get the feeling that if you flexed near these guys they would scram and spend the next week suckling up to their overly understanding girlfriends. Take note: sensitive guys can make good music too. As the leaves turn and scarves and sweaters are donned, the warmth emanating off the Shapes is pleasant indeed.
