Folk band Inlet Sound stepped away from their own budding songbook recently to deliver a jovial, in-studio reworking of sad-sack rockers the National's Boxer track "Fake Empire."
Filmed at the Verge Music Lab in Toronto, the band's redo transposes the piano melody up a key and further dust the downer tune with spritely mandolin strums. Michael Wexler also sings the song much more optimistically than the National's brooding baritone vocalist Matt Berninger ever could.
If you were looking for a lighter, bubblier version of the track, this should treat you right. You can check out the cover down below courtesy of Southern Souls.
